A Poem For Mom
I understand why you refuse
To spend your time on my haikus
If poetry neglects to rhyme
You needn’t give it any time
I like this kind of poem, too
I dedicate this post to you
I promise that from week to week
Some rhyming words my pen will speak
I offer for your ears this balm
To give thanks that you are my Mom
I post this poem with you in mind
For now, leave haikus far behind
Beautiful…. and a little funny. Hey mum… you want rhyming, well here it is..!
I really do like to write things Mom likes to read.
that’s cool. But is that still looking for appreciation… (the dang word has gone at the wrong time.. grr)
Of course it is — but I let decades go by without doing much at all for Mom, and I owe her so much. This is trivial in comparison.
when you put it like that…
